Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a multisystem autosomal recessive disease that affects 1 in 4,000 newborns in the United States and has high mortality and morbidity. In the Middle East, there is no exact estimation of CF prevalence and the survival rate is almost 50% of the reported survival in the developed countries. In this study, I aimed to determine the CF knowledge and practice (CF-KP) among primary care physicians (PCPs) and to propose effective educational programs to recognize children who suffer from CF early on and refer them to appropriate tertiary centers.
