Pre-operative fasting is a routine practice to minimise the risk of pulmonary aspiration. The leading societies of anaesthesia have adopted more liberal fasting guidelines to avoid the adverse effect of prolonged fasting. This survey was conducted to assess the knowledge, attitude and current practice of fasting guidelines among Indian anaesthesiologists and to analyse the reasons for non-compliance of these guidelines.
