Pandu Roga described in Ayurveda bears resemblance to the clinical features of anemia. The fruits of Nagaphani ( Opuntia elatior Mill.) of family cactaceae , are consumed by the inhabitants of Gujarat as a hematinic agent to treat general debility and anemia.
