Cissampelos pareira Linn. is considered as an established source of Patha , whereas Cyclea peltata (Lam.) Hook. F. & Thomas is used as a source plant of Patha in the southern part of India. In classical texts, two different varieties of Patha , i.e. Rajpatha ( C. peltata ) and Laghupatha ( C. pareira ), are mentioned which possess almost similar properties.
