This paper discusses the actions which can arise out of an offshore accident in Canadian waters. The relevant Federal and Newfoundland workers' compensation legislation is ana lyzed along with possible statutory bars to civil actions. Relevant topics in tort and contract are reviewed and the author discusses means by which an employer can limit his liability.
