In this article Dr Wilkie gives a detailed account of the computation involved in a method of analysis of factorial experiments with factors having mixed levels. The methods of calculating the best results and the least‐squares multiple polynomial equation from the significant effects are described, and the type of output supplied by computers programmed to analyse experiments with as many as 52 levels in one factor is indicated.
