Multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) isolates collected from Fujian province, China were assessed for molecular epidemiological characteristics. Analysis of isolate genotype profiles revealed that the Beijing genotype was associated with especially high drug resistance and community transmission rates.
