Core Ideas Average soil pore cross section area is larger than that calculated by Arya and Heitman (2015). Number of pores emerging at the face of the close‐cubic arrangement of particles is less than that estimated by Arya and Heitman (2015). The length of pores emerged in close‐cubic arrangement should be recalculated. The non‐empirical method developed by Arya and Heitman (2015) to estimate soil water characteristic should be revised due to the authors using improper assumptions arising from two dimensional imagining of the particle arrangements.
