A case of osseous hyperplasia under the pontics of fixed partial dentures in right and left mandibular first molar regions is presented. Radiographs showed hemispherical radioopacities on the alveolar ridges. Histologie examination revealed the lesions were composed of a dense mass of mature bone with well‐developed lamellae and haversian systems, viable osteocytes in lacunae and a few marrow spaces filled with loose fibrous connective tissue. The review of the literature showed osseous hyperplasia under the pontic of a fixed partial denture has been seen only in the mandibular molar or premolar regions, but no conclusion about its etiology was made.
