In the i-th (pp. I-49) the author gives a brief overview of the bacteriological works that appeared in the literature before the beginning of his research, the 2nd chapter (pp. 49 - 127) is devoted to the description of the methods used by the author, and the observations made by b. megatherium, b. subtilis, b. typhi abdominalis, b. diphtheriae and staphylococcus aureus.
