The article characterizes departmental, regulatory and doctrinal approaches to the nature and types of crimes of extremist orientation, as well as provides official statistical data on the dynamics of crime of this type. The author pays special attention to the sign of publicity of the act, used by the legislator in the differentiation of criminal responsibility for extremism.
