
Correlations between Adsorption and Desorption of Ionic Collectors on Celestite Surface and its Flotability

The adsorption and desorption of dodecylammonium chloride (DDAC1) and sodium dodecylsulfonate (DDSO 3 Na) has been investigated under the dynamic conditions existing during the flotation of celestite. It is shown that the flotability of the mineral may be correlated with the surface coverage of both collectors. The results obtained have been compared with static measurements of collector adsorption on a celestite surface. The surface coverage of celestite necessary for effective flotation has been found to be 2–3 statistical monolayers for DDAC1 and 1.5–2 statistical monolayers for DDSO 3 Na. The DDSO 3 Na collector appears to be more effective in celestite flotation.
