Cryptosporidium infection is a leading cause of diarrhea-associated morbidity and mortality in young children globally. Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the human protein kinase C-α (PRKCA ) gene region have been associated with susceptibility to cryptosporidiosis.
