The following paper is based on a statistical analysis of marks gained by over a thousand twins who have sat for various 11+ examinations for transfer to grammar schools. It is shown that the average ability of twins is well below that of the general population. The correlations between twins of the same sex are much higher than those between twins of opposite sex.
