Apparently despairing of exporting gas by pipeline to Australia, Papua New Guinea (PNG) is considering exporting it instead as LNG. This would provide access to a wider range of customers than the pipeline and might also provide some relief for LNG buyers in the Asia/Pacific region, who face a possible shortfall in supplies within a few years.
