The results of mating experiments with isolates of Microsporum canis isolated in Japan were reported. Of the 120 cultures of M. canis studied, 111 originated from human cases and 9 from pet cats. Ninety‐eight of the isolates were compatible with Nannizzia otae and proved to be of the “—” mating type. Cleistothecia were not produced by 22 isolates in combination with the two compatible tester strains.
