In recent years, various technologies have been developed for hybrid vehicles, ranging from energy management techniques to the engines used. Among the employed diesel engines, the aim is to improve fuel efficiency. For this reason, this work presents a scheme for energy recovery from the exhaust gases of a turbocharged diesel engine, which forms a hybrid powertrain. The operation is explained through simulations conducted in the MATLAB program, utilizing a fifth-order dynamic model with a feedback linearized controller. The simulation results confirm the presence of excess energy in the exhaust gases. To effectively demonstrate the power demand in both manifolds, a velocity profile is first simulated, clearly identifying this excess energy, which can be harnessed and converted for the propulsion system&#x2019;s use. It is important to note that the proposed model works with the compressor and turbine dynamics separately to observe the power difference in both manifolds and determine the feasibility of the proposal. This distinction is crucial as conventional turbochargers are mechanically coupled by the shaft. The main objective of this study is to decouple the turbine and compressor from the Combustion Engine, treating them as independent systems, and demonstrate the increased energy recovery in the exhaust gases.
