Herba Epimedii (family Berberidaceae), is one of the commonly used Asia traditional medicines. Phenolic compounds; Flavonoids are considered as its active components. In this study, HPLC method was developed for simultaneous determination of 30 phenolic compounds in five different species of Epimedium . The analysis was performed by using a Symmetry‐C18 analytical column (250mm×4.6mm I.D., 5 μm) at gradient elution of water (with formic acid) and acetonitrile (with formic acid) with diode‐array detection (270 nm). This method was successfully applied for the analysis of 30 phenolic compounds in different species of Epimedium which had great variation on the contents of investigated phenolic compounds. Hierarchical clustering analysis based on the characteristics of 30 investigated compound peaks in HPLC profiles showed that 5 samples were divided into three main clusters, which were in accordance with their phenolic contents.
