We describe a system by which we can implant RFID tags into small fish (such as carassius auratus) to use with readers to capture group dynamics as they interact with a variety of standard experiments including the signaled avoidance paradigm with an aquatic shuttle box, and operant responding on a variety of schedules. This innovative approach will allow for fish to be housed in groups, as well as used to determine what individuals do within group behavior.
