The three-dimensional progressive damage finite element model was established to accurately simulate the failure process and modes of the composite laminated square tube single-bolt joints. The effects of layup angle, layup ratio and bolt diameter on the ultimate bearing capacity of joints were studied using the validated numerical model, and the reinforced flange gasket was designed according to the damage characteristics of the laminated square tube wall. The results showed that the ultimate bearing capacity of the composite laminated square tube bolt connection structure was relevant to the proportion of 0 degree layers, which increased with the increase of the bolt diameter. The ultimate bearing capacity were increased by the flange gasket reinforcement about 15%.
