At present, the northern margin of Junggar Basin is one of the key zone in oil-gas exploration fields. For the purpose of explaining the question about the effect of volcanic activities on the characteristic of sedimentary, with the Wulungu area in the northern margin of Junggar Basin, the sedimentary characteristics was studied comprehensively using methods of core, drilling and a large number of sedimentologic experiment. The results have confirmed that the types of sedimentary facies, mainly marine. Combining with the construction environment, the sedimentary facies model (inter-arc basin and back-arc basin) were established for this area.
