The pre-operative systemic inflammatory response (SIR) measured using an acute-phase-protein-based score (modified Glasgow Prognostic Score (mGPS)) or the differential white cell count (neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR)) demonstrates prognostic significance following curative resection of colon cancer.
