For Star Trek fanatics, extraterrestrials (ETs) are as close as the nearest television set or big screen, where Klingons and other fictional aliens have regular walk‐on roles. Now, the latest “trekkie” movie, “Star Trek: Insurrection,” which opens on December 11 in the United States and Canada, will promote a way for fans around the world to join in on the scientific search for ETs.
