grouping The abstracts have been grouped according to their subject matter. This has not always been easy, since there is often a degree of overlap. If authors feel they have been misallocated, please accept our apologies. Abstracts are listed in numerical order under speci¢c headings. Those for oral presentation are post-scripted `O', whereas those for poster have `P' appended. It was not possible correctly to allocate a few abstracts within the time period available to us, and these are listed at the end; again we apologise to these authors for the inconvenience this might cause.
