served relative hypermetabolism within the subthalamic nucleus and cerebellum of the AD brain (shown in Figure). Conclusions: Our analysis has revealed that changes to grey matter volume and cerebral glucose metabolism in AD interact in a manner that cannot be fully appreciated by separate or even parallel analyses of MR and FDG-PET imaging. Sub-threshold changes in either modality may interact to produce novel, significant findings with important implications for diagnostic models.
