Abstract An instrument which measures the absorption of plasticizer in resin grains as a function of time is described. From a single experiment, one is able to determine directly the capacity of the resin for a desired plasticizer and the time and temperature required for complete absorption or “drying‐up” of the plasticizer by the resin. Based on data for a series of resins with different polymerization histories, observations regarding the effects of grain morphology on plasticizer absorption are discussed.
