Electronic Structure and Optical Characteristics of Alkaline‐Earth Oxides

The electronic structure of MgO, CaO, SrO, and BaO oxides is calculated by the linear augmented plane wave method. From the electronic structure of the compounds their optical parameters are derived. A satisfying correspondence with the experiments is observed.
