Abstract The Faraday and birefringence effects due to infrared radiation in semiconductor superlattices in quantizing magnetic field are investigated. It is shown that for a non‐degenerate electron gas in the one‐mini‐band approximation the frequency behaviour of magneto‐optical coefficients exhibits finite jumps at ω = nω c ± 2Δ ω is the frequency of electromagnetic radiation, ω c the cyclotron frequency, and Δ the half band‐width). The natural birefringence and dichroism in superlattices are also calculated.
