Abstract The paper describes the synthesis of polymer emulsions of methylmeth‐acrylate‐methylacrylate, methylmethacrylate‐ethylacrylate, and methylmeth‐acrylate‐2‐ethylhexylacrylate systems by different monomer feed methods. The minimum film formation temperatures of the emulsions were determined. The morphology of the latex particles was observed by electron microscopy. It was found that the effects of monomer feed methods and the hydrophilicity of the monomers on both the morphology of the latex particles and the minimum film formation temperatures of their emulsions are significant.
