A procedure for doubly selective irradiation of an AX NMR spin system so as to achieve complete magnetization transfer from X to A is described. In combination with suitably gated decoupling this sequence will give substantial savings of time in determinations of T 1 for low‐sensitivity spin‐½ nuclei, particularly those with negative magnetogyric ratios.
