The spectral behaviour of dimesityl‐2,4,6‐trimethoxyphenylmethane (1) was examined by 1 H NMR spectroscopy at 270 MHz in order to resolve an isochrony of resonances observed in the low temperature spectra of 1 at 60 MHz. At 270 MHz the spectra of 1 exhibit well resolved o ‐methyl resonances at low temperature so that the two‐ring flip mechanism, previously proposed as the threshold mechanism by Mislow et al. , receives new independent experimental support.
