Stereochemical aspects of proton chemical shifts—V: The cumulative nature of the proton shift by vicinal substitution

It is shown that the proton chemical shift may be predicted with fairly good precision for a proton in an ethano fragment carrying a (long) vicinal substituent. Caution must be used however in calculating geminal effects.
