Abstract An analysis of an interconnect between two microstrip lines is presented. The interconnect is based on a narrow rectangular slot on the common groud plane of two microstrip lines. A moment method procedure is applied to several integral equations that were formulated by Green's functions of the grounded dielectric slabs and unknown electric and magnetic currents. Low insertion loss over an octave bandwidth was achieved for this interconnect. The theoretical results agree very well with measurements. © 1992 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
