ABSTRACT We mathematically and experimentally demonstrate the nonlinearity suppression of optical transmitter in multiband orthogonal frequency division multiplexing based radio over fiber system (multiband OFDM‐RoF) by feed‐forward technique. The proposed method is a simple technique that can decrease static and dynamic nonlinear transfer characteristics. Nonlinearity of multiband OFDM‐RoF has been experimentally evaluated by transmitting nine optical OFDM channels. Experimental results show that nonlinear components from optical transmitter are suppressed and EVM is improved by 7.3% in multiband OFDM signal by using the proposed technique. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
