ABSTRACT In this article, an accurate and efficient approach to model the multilayered dielectric with periodic metal inclusions is presented. The modeling combines effective medium theory and an efficient integral equation approach. Numerical results are provided to validate the accuracy and efficiency of this approach. Printed circuit board‐based test structures are fabricated and measured to compare with the modeling results. Good agreements have been observed. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
