We consider local solvability of semilinear hyperbolic Cauchy problems for Gevrey functions. To obtain a general result, we define the notion of irregularities, and we give a criterion for the local solvability. (© 2005 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
