An ultra‐broadband on‐chip silicon polarization beam splitter based on hetero‐anisotropic metamaterials is demonstrated by Yaocheng Shi and co‐workers in article number 1800349 . Sub‐wavelength grating metamaterials are utilized to engineer anisotropy and dispersion. The fabricated device shows low losses of <1 dB, high extinction ratios of >20 dB, and a record working bandwidth of >200 nm.
