Open‐access microcavities are emerging as a new approach to confine and engineer light at mode volumes down to the λ 3 regime. This article presents a study of the mode properties of coupled microcavities, for which the substrates are produced using Focused Ion Beam milling. Future development of photonic open‐access devices ranging from polariton systems to quantum simulators may draw from these findings. (Picture: L.C.
