Raman and infrared spectra of Te 2 (CF 3 ) 2 , Te 2 (C 6 F 5 ) 2 and Te(C 6 F 5 ) 2 were studied and their structures determined. Polarization measurements of Raman lines of the neat liquid Te 2 (CF 3 ) 2 and of CCl 4 solutions of Te 2 (C 6 F 5 ) 2 and Te(C 6 F 5 ) 2 were also performed, allowing the assignment of symmetric and asymmetric vibrations. The observed coinciding wavenumbers supported the skeletal C 2 symmetry structure for the Te 2 R 2 compounds. Copyright © 2002 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
