This study reports on the pharmacokinetics and metabolism of [ 123 I]CNS‐1261 as part of the validation of this radioligand for imaging the activated NMDA ion channel in humans with SPET. After injection of [ 123 I]CNS‐1261, radioactivity is cleared rapidly from plasma. Parent radioligand is metabolised to three, more polar radioactive metabolites. Arterial and venous plasma radioactivity has also been measured and compared. Arterial data is required for biomathematical modelling.
