An improved synthesis of [1,1′‐ 13 C 2 ]‐L‐cystine which includes the optical resolution of the labeled N‐acetyl‐S‐benzyl‐DL‐cysteine by Aspergillus acylase into S ‐benzyl‐L‐cysteine is described.
