Metal‐catalysed exchange with tritiated water and tritium gas has been extensively used to prepare a wide range of tritium‐labelled compounds in support of pharmaceutical research. Examples of the utility of both heterogeneous and homogeneous metal catalysts to label a very broad range of structures will be discussed in this review. Copyright © 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
