HOTSPOT MURA is commonly observed in Edge‐Type LED TV BLU. However, this common issue is usually judged by human eyes. Therefore it is necessary to come out a factor for describing different levels of HOTSPOT MURA. In this study, we provide a way to quantify HOTSPOT MURA in BLU by a parameter factor which is defined by using Wald's formula [1]. This parameter could quantitatively describe different levels of HOTSPOT MURA, and could be used to judge HOTSPOT MURA to support human eye's perception.
