A head up display using 7 inches TFT liquid crystal panel and 13 white light LEDs has been proposed, in which a lens array illumination optics direct the illumination light toward the eye box of the driver so that energy utilization is highly effective. Due to the direct illumination configuration, the thickness of the whole HUD module is 80 mm.
