Currently the production volumes of conventional 2D flat panel displays still outpaces those of 3D displays. In order to put glasses‐free 3D displays on an equal footing we developed a cost effective prism based switchable adapter optical module that can enable conventional 2D displays to switch between 2D and glasses‐free 3D mode. Our simulations also show that switchable 2D / multi‐viewer glasses‐free 3D is also possible.
