The P aso O tero L ocality is a cluster of archaeological sites within the middle R ío Q uequén G rande basin located in the northern coastal plain of A rgentina. The valley fill is H olocene alluvial, eolian, and palustrine sediment, including the top of the G uerrero M ember (∼10,000 14 C yr B . P .), upper R ío S alado M ember (∼3000 14 C yr B . P .), and lower L a P ostrera Formation (∼2400 14 C yr B . P .). Regional soils include the P uesto C allejón V iejo (10,000 to 9400 14 C yr B . P .) and the P uesto B errondo (∼4800 14 C yr B . P .). Radiocarbon sampling of buried A ‐horizons on both sides of the river produced 17 dates considered reliable. The geoarchaeological information allows exploration of the implications for the formation of the archaeological record. Similar geological processes of differential intensity have resulted in contexts of different archaeological resolution and integrity. The P aso O tero L ocality provides both a local and regional view of late Q uaternary events and processes for the middle basin of the R ío Q uequén G rande.
