Using the reduction symmetry method and a system of invariants parameters the matrices of the energy stark levels for the ion Nd 3+ ( Er 3+ ) in crystal field with the tetragonal symmetry (groups D 4th , D 2 , D 2d , C 4v ) are calculated, and the new method for determining the parameters of the CF are developed by using the properties of the sum of diagonal elements and the sum of the square of all the matrix elements and without the fitting procedure.
