The kinetics of intestinal absorption of sulfamethazine was determined in 12 normal subjects. A four compartment model was used, and the data regarding blood kinetics after intravenous injection and after oral administration were fitted to the model by a digital computer. All the transfer constants of the model (Fig. 3) were computed directly. The weighting function for the intestinal absorption is formed by two exponential terms, and the blood kinetics after intravenous injection can be accounted for by two exponential terms.
