A fluorescent material which does not disturb the physical properties of the contacting fluids while allowing a continuous analysis of the concentration, has been used to study the mixing of two miscible liquids in a continuous stirred tank reactor (CSTR). The experimental results for three types of forcing functions, analysed by the frequency response method and Bode diagrams, show that a general first order transfer function describes the behavior of a CSTR when there is no density difference between fluids.
