The rapid development in nanotechnology has necessitated accurate andefficient assembly strategies for nanomaterials. Monolayer assembly ofnanomaterials (MAN) represents an extreme challenge in manufacturing and iscritical in understanding interactions among nanomaterials, solvents, andsubstrates. MAN enables highly tunable performance in electronic and photonicdevices. This review summarizes the recent progress on the methods to achieveMAN and discusses important control factors. Moreover, the importance of MAN iselaborated by a broad range of applications in electronics and photonics. Inthe end, we outlook the opportunities as well as challenges in manufacturingand new applications.
